Postmodernism is a term to describe a modern way of thinking (more or less). So I believe that there are parallels to Casts cradle to the way things are or a perceived in today’s world therefore it relates to a modern way of analyzing or reasoning. As we saw even Architecture has a type of postmodernism style. Where everything just basically is awkward and looks crazy. Many buildings have odd shapes and go in all different directions. I believe it is basically just challenging new ideas as opposed to sticking with the same old same old.…. As opposed to the standard square and tall buildings that we are used to seeing, post modern architecture however branches out. This is a parallel to post modernism in general. I believe cats cradle is just basically a reference to branching out in a way. Cats cradle analyzes ideas and reasoning in a new way that is described with the term “postmodernism”…… If that makes any sense….. if not I’m sorry L

NEXT ESSAY BRAVE NEW WORLD
In my next essay i would like to write about the awkward society that takes place in BRAVE NEW WORLD. I will discuss how its is similar and unsimilar to the society we have today. The society we have today and the society in BRAVE NEW WORLD are very alike.... They both have controlled governments, also they both pursued the people to do whats right and wrong. In my essay i will talk about George Orwells 1984 and make comparisons to that also. I will look at this essay through the lens of Sir Ken Robinsons beliefs. To show that the governments are simmilar i will use facts from today and facts from the story. This should be a fun essay and i cant wait to start going.. :)))

Eduction programs
The video "RSA Animate- Changing Education Paradigms" is a video that questions the methods of education as we know them today. It debates on whether or not there is a cultural identity missing today in schools. By just educating students with standardized coriculumn and tests students are missing out on a lot more about life and questioning ideas. This relates to The Brave New World because society in this book has no cultural base because their society is based on “Community, Identity, Stability,” and their life is an “inescapable social destiny.” The video explains the same thing that the story does which is if your not very smart you wont go to college and if you dont go to college you wont amount to much. On the other hand if you go to college you are bound to be succesfull. This is explained in the video and in the story.

Bave New World
In chapter three of Brave New World, it is established that there is no value in an integrated society. Mustapha Mona says, "There must be men to tend them, men as sturdy as the wheels upon their axles, sane men, obedient men, stable in contentment." The belief of this social system is that somebody needs to control all aspects of scociety in one way. They want all people to be alike and they want no diversity what so ever. This book is really starting to sound in a lot of ways like 1984. They both wanted a controlled society and there both willing to do pretty much anything to keep it controlled. In Brave New World, they are able to manipulate peoples feelings, relationships and desires pretty easy. It is said that everyone is in control by everyone else but that is not the case. There is a smart group and a dumb group and in a sense, the smart ones really control the dumb people. This is how everything is controlled so nicely, because no one even thinks about rebelion, they are told to be happy in what there doing so thats the only way they know how to be.I believe that if we had this social system in todays age someone would find a way to see past the governments brain wash activity and would be able to prevent or detect this, especially with technological advances being as high as they are it would be pretty easy to find some of this stuff out. This is what has taken place up until chapter 4, i know that this book is going to get alot more interesting.... until next time :)

response to textbook issue
in our socratic circles we found many differing oppinions which leave us all a little confused about history. how can we try to throw out little bits and pieces of history as we know it? how can we eleminate certain historians from textbooks or coriculum? i kind of understand what the texas bored of education is trying to do with there history lessons but i believe that they took it a bit to far. many people have their own beliefs on history and they will stick to their beliefd but everyone would love to know the truth. people say that history repeats itself, well if so i would love to know everything that happend in history so that the same problems of history dont happen in thefuture or present time. by leaving things out of history textbooks we will not be getting the same knowladge of history as we should. i believe we would only be hurting ourselves.
