MAUS

The article i chose was by Ian Johnson. Through his lense Johnson analizes his differant interpretations of Maus.Johnson has one central lense and that is "what is the main Purpose or concern of the story". Most people think that Maus is a story to describe the holocast but Johnson believes that this story is to describe the relationship between a father and a son. Durring the Holocaust the father has more concerns than his son and kindov puts him aside and doesnt really treat him like he should. Also Johnson talks about heros and tries to figure out the hero of the story because we all know that the villan was Hitler and the Nazi's. He explains through his lense that the real hero is Vladek because the book is really one sided and describes his personal life mostly. The book describes all the emotions of the story and this shows the pain that the holoxcaust brought to many people.  He wrote the story in comics form to try to portray the irony that he was not trying to show the true meaning and damage of the holocaust because that would be impossible because no words or phrases can explain the true life that those people had to go through on a day to day basis and for that i think that the author is a wise man. The lecture states that no attempts only theorys can portray the holocaust and the pain that those people went through in that time. I believe that the author was only trying to show pain through his fathers eyes because that released most of his pains as well. The author cleverly showed a relationship between a faather and a son without having to express the detailsin wich the severity of the holocaust affected the nation. this is the link  ctre ahttp:// records.viu.ca/~johnstoi/introser/ maus.htmlso speaks about the beast fable and how the comic examples this theory. In the end of the lecture, Johnston thinks that perhaps there is no answer to the question that he asked. There are only theories and attempts.
